Sustainable Remote Sites
  • A growing population, urbanization, and insufficient connections to rural areas are all taking a toll on the African transport sector.
  • However, Africa’s climate offers a one-time opportunity to transition directly into a climate-friendly mobility future – the conditions are right for electromobility as a new developing sector.
  • Electric vehicles are perfectly suited for rural and peri-urban areas of Sub-Saharan Africa.

At EVM Africa we construct and operate “Off Grid” solutions, using renewable energy to power distribution and collection centers.

A growing population, urbanization, and insufficient connections to rural areas are all taking a toll on the African transport sector. However, Africa’s climate offers a one-time opportunity to transition directly into a climate-friendly mobility future – the conditions are right for electromobility as a new developing sector.

Electric vehicles are perfectly suited for rural and peri-urban areas of Sub-Saharan Africa. Cold temperatures are rare, speeds above 60km per hour are uncommon, and ranges of up to 80km per day are the norm.

The supply of solar energy is effectively endless, making simple and robust solutions attractive from both a technological and an economic perspective. Establishing a CO2 emission-free charging infrastructure and local e-vehicle production also creates jobs and encourages economic and social development.

Additionally, for countries and users, electromobility contributes to energy self-sufficiency, the supply of energy without dependence on distant sources or suppliers.

We operate two- and three-wheeled vehicles and light transport vehicles (including Cold Chain): Motorcycles and lightweight vehicles with conventional motors are already ubiquitous in rural areas. Given their generally short life spans, opportunities exist for using e-vehicles to renew fleets. Cargo capacity demands tend to be relatively low and can be met easily and affordably.

We understand the challenges faced when expanding your business to rural areas of the country that have not yet been developed and we have the best solution for you.

Here are the answers to the questions that you need to consider when planning.

Is your site buildable?

Erecting traditional buildings is a tedious, time consuming task not to mention the approval processes you need to do before you begin building.

EVM Africa together with ISM Containers, work together to bring you solutions that can be completed in under 2 months. They are mobile and can be repositioned if the location does not work for your business.

Is it accessible?

To aid your mobility and accessibility, we operate two, three-wheeled vehicles and light transport vehicles (including Cold Chain): that are built to withstand our rough and rugged terrain. Equipped to carry cargo from 210kgs and 1,000 kgs.

Do I have the resources required?

You do not need to hire a team for the project as we provide a complete solution, from design, to manufacture through to set up and operation (Including on site maintenance) at the remote center.

Costs?

Worried about the overall costs? We have you covered. At a fixed monthly price, we can lease the center to you for a minimum of 3 years in a contract renewable after the time elapses.

How will I provide power?

At EVM Africa, it is all about renewable energy. Our stations are fully equipped with solar power, power convertors and battery power banks that charge the electric vehicles. As an example, our solar power system as shown above, is designed to cater to up to 30 people, 6 electric E-tuk-tuks and 6 electric E-motorcycles at a go, 25 Hours a day.

Therefore, all you need to do is visit us with your design in mind and watch us bring your vision to life.
